It wasn't easy being me.

I was the singer who could really make you feel my song
But nobody knew deep inside I was hurting-hurting and so alone
not liking myself at all- or who I had become
Pursuing dreams that never came true
Pursuing a love that didn't love me too
Over and over, in my pursuing I was abandoned
But still I sang-yes I sang.

It wasn't easy being me.

I made decisions then, that I still have to deal with today-wondering if anyone could ever love me
Enough to go the distance for me
You see, I was damaged goods in my eyes-a hopeless case
Pursuing dreams that never came true
Pursuing a love that didn't love me too
Over and over, in my pursuing, I was abandoned
But still I sang, yes I sang
But then I met Jesus, the One who died
Who for my sins was crucified
He paid the cost, inspite of my fault
His love went the distance for me and paid the ultimate price
Rising in power,
He brought my new life
Gave me real freedom
Showed me true love
Out of an horrible pit, Jesus lifted me
That's why I sing, now I sing
I sing of a life you can have brand new
Of healing and freedom that can be yours too
I sing bring your hurts
I sing bring your pain
Bring those issues to Jesus
and receive in exchange
His peace of which I now sing
His joy that I now proclaim
What He did for me, He can do for you
